1. I started commenting on artwork (on :deviantart:) the day I signed up, because I feel that it is important for real people to tell an artist how their pieces impacted their life and/or for the viewer to be able to ask a question directly to the artist in relation to the piece.

2. I like to comment on the submissions that give a prompt for commenting. My favorite genres are Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Traditional Art, although Digital Art is compelling as well.

3. More recently, I prefer putting art in a :+fav: folder over commenting because I can collect the things I admire and go through many more, as opposed to taking more time to comment on every single one.

4. The motivation for a comment of mine would be a combination of beauty, aesthetic, hues, values, flora/fauna, or originality. Polished pieces will also draw more of a comment from me than a rushed picasso sketch  .

5. For me, the difficulty in commenting lies in giving a quality comment that does not only say "This is awesome" but "This is WHY this piece is awesome..." I have to reflect on why I feel the way I feel when I am motivated by a work of art, what techniques allow for that feeling, and how well the skills reflect the intentions of the artist.

6. A constructive comment is a piece of advice that relies on the commenter's knowledge or firsthand experience with trying to communicate through imagery. "I have tried this..." or "What worked for me..." are things that are common in constructive comments, as opposed to simply pointing out the negative.

7. The difference between a constructive comment and a critique is that the critique is more in-depth and offers a detailed assessment of the artwork, while a constructive comment can be a simple sentence geared towards a specific detail that caught the attention of the commenter.

8. My comments are always in a positive light whether it be to suggest a new technique or praise the artist. Critiquing, on the other hand, uses much more time as I analyze the piece, so I seldom do it.

9. When I comment, I want the reader to get a sense of my thought flow, so I just type away without much of a structure. The consistency in my comments is about leading the artist from a general overview to details.

10. I like to receive all kinds of comments, but I prefer critiques and constructive comments.

11. For comments on my own artwork, I expect people to tell me what was the attention grabber, and what resonated with them. Comments like "This is awesome" are great to hear, and "You need to work on...." are appreciated, but if there is something that caught your attention about a particular piece, let me know!

12. If I had to pick a pet peeve, it would be the general "Great job! I really like this piece." Thank you for taking the time to write a comment, but if you are going to take that time to respond to my piece, tell me what was it that made you want to write instead of just clicking the star.

13. When I comment, it is because there was something special about your piece that deserves taking time out of the day to express my gratitude for your decision to share it on :dalogo:. You don't have to comment back just to fulfill an obligation. Or if you feel obliged to comment back, find a piece that speaks to you and comment on that one instead of randomly generating a "thank you" comment that has no real substance. I appreciate your gratitude, but please go all out on your comments.

14. New commenters get sucked into the need to post a certain number of comments a day/week, and it lowers the quality of your feedback. One well-thought-out comment replaces ten generic ones, and most artists will appreciate your feedback more if you take the time to post something that you obviously thought about. For the artists looking for feedback, go out there and give some of your own! A good comment will most times get you a page view, and sometimes even a comment back on your own work.

15. If I had to do a monochromatic piece, what color would you like to see?
